Claims Technician
Outline of role
Working within the Internal Operations team the individual will take responsibility for the administration of Claims for a variety of clients.
These clients have varying portfolios of business, which includes exposure to asbestos, pollution and health hazard liabilities emanating from the USA, as well as losses from business placed in the UK, European and far eastern market.
The main areas of responsibility will be:-
1. Processing claim updates / treaty balances to mainframe systems
2. Production of payment requests
3. Production and analysis of Claims information
4. Participation in data analysis, reconciliation and cleansing projects
This role will be mainly based in our Guildford office, but there may be periods of time spent on secondment to our London office.
The successful applicant must also be willing to participate in a variety of different day to day tasks and projects at any one time.
Key competencies
Previous experience within the insurance or reinsurance industry is desirable, although not essential. The necessary training will be provided in-house. A degree of PC literacy is essential, particularly in the use of MS Excel / Word.
Applicants must be numerate and possess the ability to organise their workload and pay attention to detail, particularly as this role requires accuracy in processing and reporting.
Good verbal and written communication skills are also required. Liaison with other internal teams is essential to ensure that the claims data is of good quality.
A flexible attitude towards carrying out the work is essential, as we work in an environment with changing priorities. At times this will also involve working additional hours in order to meet deadlines.
