• Vacancy Title: Assistant Lead Attendance Officer - ECRB

• Pay Rate: £22.00 ph Limited Co (estimated and tbc) or £18.00 ph PAYE (+ holiday pay)

• Department/Division: Educational Welfare/Children's Learning Services

• Client: Surrey based local authority

• Anticipated Length of Assignment: 6 months initially, though considered likely to be extended.

• Hours per week: 36, Monday – Friday, normal business hours

• Essence of role:

1. Line manage approximately half the team of Education Welfare Officers offering professional supervision of casework and advice on the use and interpretation of data; assisting in professional development and training; chairing complex school meetings;

2. Manage supervision and PDCS within the guidelines of Council Policy. Take appropriate remedial action to address under performance.

3. To monitor and analyse attendance data of Croydon schools to enable effective support, challenge and target setting.

4. Provide management data and analysis as required eg for Ofsted, APA assessments etc.

5. Work with schools to develop attendance policies and implement effective strategies for ensuring pupils’ regular and punctual attendance, drawing on local and national best practice.

6. Support schools in promoting good attendance through attendance at class and school assemblies and parents meetings.

7. To manage a caseload taking account of the other responsibilities of the post

8. Provide support and guidance to parents and children to bring about improvements in attendance, either individually or in groups

9. Attend EWS Team Meetings, Youth and Social Inclusion meetings and other Directorate meetings as required.

- Educational Welfare experience, or social worker if experience covers educational welfare and education legislation
- enhanced CRB check
- full driver's licence plus use of a vehicle
